In this workshop, we’ll dive into the essential aspects of telemetry and its application within Business Central. Here’s what we’ll cover:

Introduction to Telemetry: We’ll kick off with a detailed overview of telemetry—what it is, why it’s important, and how it’s specifically applied to Business Central to monitor and improve performance and reliability.

Mastering KQL: Get ready to dive deep into Kusto Query Language (KQL). We’ll spend significant time learning how to craft and optimize queries to extract meaningful insights from telemetry data.

Tools: We’ll explore the tools available for telemetry in Business Central, focusing primarily on Azure Data Explorer. You’ll learn how to leverage this powerful tool to analyze and visualize telemetry data effectively.

Custom Telemetry: Moving beyond the basics, we’ll also cover “custom telemetry”. You’ll learn how to create your own telemetry data points tailored to your specific needs.

This is not just an introductory session – we’ll be putting knowledge into practice with hands-on exercises. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a solid understanding of Business Central telemetry and be able to apply these skills to improve your system’s performance and monitoring capabilities.

Preparation Checklist:

Laptop: Ensure your machine is ready for a full day of hands-on activities.
Online BC Sandbox: A demo environment will suffice to follow along with practical exercises.
Azure Portal Access: You’ll need access to create and use Application Insights, so make sure you can log in to the Azure portal under the same tenant.
